What choke should I use for Buckshot?
The best choke for buckshot is improved cyl and is effective out to 40yds. Anything tighter than that the pellets bounce off each other creating an irradic pattern. Shooting buckshot at a deer that is out of range in unethical.
Will 00 buck kill a deer?
The deer has to be fairly close to the hunter, because buckshot will not carry as far as a high-powered rifle bullet. There are different sizes of buckshot, and most people use “double-ought” buckshot, 00, for deer. Sometimes one or two buckshot will not kill the deer, depending upon where the deer is hit.
