How does a hunting saddle work?
Rather than hoisting a traditional heavy metal stand into a tree, with a saddle you simply ascend the tree, attach a step or small platform (like the Tethrd Predator), loop a rope around the trunk, and clip in. With a saddle, you can also hunt from more types of trees.
How safe is saddle hunting?
Tree saddles are arguably as safe, or even safer, than traditional treestands because a saddle hunter is connected to the tree at all times — via a lineman’s belt while climbing and via the tree tether while hunting. Saddle hunters can sit and rest when the hunting is slow, as author Greg Staggs demonstrates.
Do you need a platform for saddle hunting?
